What can go into my recycling, yard waste and garbage cart?
Blue Recycling Cart
Paper & Cardboard, Metals, Plastics
- Put items into the recycling cart loose, not bagged, or bundled.
- Containers must be empty.
- Rinse out excess food residue.
- Flatten containers if possible.
- Shredded paper must be placed in a clear plastic bag
- Spray cans must be completely empty
- Plastic bags and film can not be recycled
- Containers should be rinsed before being put out for recycling
- Glass bottles and jars can be recycled
- Broken drinking glasses, vases and mirrors can not be recycled
Call 1-888-678-6798 to have an oil recycle container delivered.
When full, place next to your yard waste cart on your regular pick up day for collection.
Green Waste / Yard Waste Cart:
If it grows, it goes!
- Food Scraps – as of January 1, 2022
- Leaves
- Grass clippings
- Plant or flower trimmings
- Small pieces of clean wood
- Tree limbs and branches (up to 4 in diameter)
- Weeds
- Clean wood only (No paint, no pressure-treated, etc.)
NO trash, dirt, rocks, plastic bags, or flower pots!
January 3 – January 14, 2022
Place trees up to 6 feet at the curb.
Trees more than 6ft must be cut into 6ft sections
Brown Garbage Cart
Items not listed for the recycling or yard waste carts have to go into your trash cart.
- Animal waste & kitty litter (put in a bag and tie off)
- Ceramics & china (e.g. broken dishes)
- Chips bags and candy wrappers
- Diapers & wipes
- Disposable gloves
- Drinking glasses (e.g. chipped or cracked)
- Expanded Polystyrene
- Foam (i.e. Styrofoam™)
- Food or grease soiled paper & cardboard (e.g. fast-food wrappers and to-go cups)
- Food scraps
- Garden hoses
- Incandescent light bulbs
- Juice pouches or boxes and straws
- Napkins & tissue paper
- Paper towels
- Pressure-treated or painted wood
- Toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes
- Window and mirror glass
Other Types Of Garbage Not Allowed In Carts
The following items cannot go into any of your 3 curbside carts.
These items can be taken to your transfer station or landfill.
- Empty heading
- Aerosol cans
- Auto batteries
- Antifreeze Household toxics
- Building materials, e.g. bricks, dirt, concrete
- Bulky Item Collection – Call Hauler to set up pick up
- Cooking oil
- Electronics
- Fluorescent lights
- Holiday Tree Collection
- Household batteries
- Tires
- Used Motor Oil & Filter Collection
- Collect your household Batteries
- Place in a quart size zipper plastic bag
- After taking your Recycling Cart to the Curb, place bag on top of the blue recycling container lid (not inside)
