Mixed Recycling

Unlike single-family homes, most apartment complexes and condominiums don’t have individual garbage, recycling, and yard waste carts for each unit. Instead, collection containers are located in one central area on the ground floor or outside the building. Look for carts or dumpsters marked “recycling”. The materials accepted are the same as for single-family homes in your city.

Food Scraps Recycling

In an effort to reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill, while also reducing methane gas emissions, SB 1383 was signed into California law that requires everyone to recycle their food scraps. When you recycle your food scraps, they can now become a nutrient-rich soil amendment called compost that goes back into our farms and home gardens. Check out our tips and tricks on how to recycle your food scraps using the link below!
