Organic waste materials (Organics) means food waste, green waste, landscape and pruning waste, nonhazardous wood waste, and foodsoiled paper waste that is mixed in with food waste.
Organic waste includes all matter that was once alive regardless of how it was grown – plants and animals. Organically grown (without pesticides) and Conventional crops create organic waste that can be composted and returned to the soil.
Why Recycle Organics? - It's the Law. Three to be exact:
Business that generates 2 cubic yards of garbage per week (total for trash, recycling and organics), shall arrange for organic waste recycling services.
Requires businesses to provide customers with recycling and/or organics recycling collection bins or containers to collect recyclable material generated from products purchased on the premises.
2020 – 50% reduction in landfilled organic waste
2022 – Regulation take effect
2025 – 75% reduction in landfilled organic waste
2025- 20% of currently disposed edible food for human consumption
Enforcement requirements for non-complaint generators.
