Local school goes Zero Waste!  The students and staff at Jesse G. Sanchez Elementary in Salinas have been working hard to change old habits and sort waste to reduce garbage and send food scraps to composting. Salinas Valley Recycles (SVR) sponsored the purchase of metal sporks to eliminate the use of up to 3,000 spork packets per day (plastic spork, napkin, plastic straw all wrapped in cellophane)! SVR was onsite for two weeks getting our hands dirty helping with the transition.  Way to go Hawks!!
