Who Actually Collects our Garbage and
Recycling?
Garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection in the Salinas Valley is done by contracted waste haulers who have franchise agreements with each city. The local haulers include Republic Services of Salinas, Tri-Cities Disposal & Recycling, and Waste Management, Inc. Residents must subscribe to service with their hauler, but SVR can help answer any questions you may have; contact SVR for more information.
If you live in a single-family home, your weekly garbage service includes:
- Mixed Recycling (64/65 gallon cart)
- Yard Waste (96 gallon cart)
You can decrease your monthly garbage bill by choosing a smaller trash cart and recycling more! Trash cart sizes range from 20 gallons up to 96 gallons (sizes and options may vary, check with your hauler for more details).
Additional free curbside services include:
- Used motor oil & filter collection
- Holiday tree collection
- Bulky item collection (TV’s, mattresses, water heaters, etc.)
Check the list below to find your hauler and learn more about the curbside services.
