Household Hazardous Waste Facilities
Many household products contain chemicals that can harm your family and the environment. Some may be safe while in use, but can contaminate water and soil when improperly disposed of.
Please NEVER dispose of the following items in the garbage, sink or a storm drain:
Paints, thinners
Solvents
Cleaners such as bleach, drain openers and toilet cleaners
Cooking oil/grease
Pesticides
Fertilizer & other garden chemicals
Motor oil & filters
Antifreeze and other auto products
Household batteries
Auto batteries
Aerosol (spray) cans
Sharps, such as needles, razors and syringes
Fluorescent light bulbs
Electronic waste, like old TVs, computes and cell phones
Thermometers, thermostats and other mercury containing items
Instead, the above items should be taken to one of the SVSWA’s HHW facilities. We have two locations to serve you:

HHW facilities are closed on the following holidays: New Years Day, M.L. King Jr. B-day, Lincoln's B-day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
Important disposal information:
1. Do not transport more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of HHW. Bring chemicals in secure containers and do not mix them! Do not bring explosives, radioactive material, drums, medical waste (sharps OK) and unstable chemicals.
2. Residential households can drop-off acceptable items for no charge. We do charge for commercially generated waste, agricultural waste and waste of commercial nature. Certain limitations apply to small businesses. Please call for more information before visiting the facility.
3. No appointment necessary for HHW from residential households. Commercial generators must make appointment by calling the facility directly.
